The Recorder

Tomorrow, July 7, 2020 is Primary Election Day!

Monmouth County Clerk Christine Giordano Hanlon is reminding Monmouth County voters that tomorrow, Tuesday, July 7, 2020 is the New Jersey Primary Election.

According to the Governor’s Executive Orders, the election is being held primarily via Vote by Mail with limited polling places on Election Day where only paper provisional ballots will be available to vote, except for disabled voters who will be permitted to vote on a machine. To find your polling place specifically for the Primary Election, please click here.

Some voters mailed their Vote by Mail application to the Monmouth County Clerk’s Office after the State-mandated deadline of June 30, 2020. Any application received by mail after the deadline cannot be processed and therefore, these voters will not receive a mail-in ballot by mail.

However, voters who have not received a mail-in ballot can still apply for and receive a mail-in ballot in person by visiting the Monmouth County Clerk’s Election Office at 300 Halls Mill Road in Freehold today or tomorrow. Applications can be submitted in person until 4:30 p.m. today, July 6 and up until 8 p.m. tomorrow, Election Day, July 7. Or, such voters can go to their Primary Election polling place on Election Day and vote via provisional paper ballot.

For more information about the major changes to the Primary Election process, please visit our website at MonmouthCountyVotes.com. If you have questions, please call our Election Office at 732-431-7790 during normal business hours.

Returning your Mail-In Ballot for Counting

According to the Governor's Executive Orders, voters can return their completed Primary Election mail-in ballot to the Monmouth County Board of Elections via mail, drop box, or in-person.

If you wish to return your mail-in ballot via secure drop box, there five drop boxes in Monmouth County located in Englishtown, Howell, Neptune, Eatontown and Hazlet. The deadline for delivering the ballot via drop box is 8 p.m. tomorrow, Election Day, July 7. Please click here for more information about the drop box locations.

If returning via U.S. Postal Service mail, the ballot must be postmarked on or before Election Day, July 7.

If you would prefer to deliver your ballot in person to the Board of Elections at 300 Halls Mill Road in Freehold, the deadline to do so is 8 p.m. on Election Day, July 7. If delivered in-person, the voter or the bearer must present identification when surrendering the ballot.
